Description:
The Canterlot High Pet Show is coming up and the Crusaders have volunteered to help make posters for the event. However, Apple Bloom ends up missing out due to a doctor’s appointment, leaving Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo to work on their own. As they kneel on the floor of the school gymnasium, painting their last poster for the day, the two freshmen get around to chatting about their classes and all the interesting things they have been learning. The conversation starts out pretty low key, but takes a surprising turn when Scootaloo says that she has been learning hypnosis in her psychology class and that she actually pretty good at it. Sweetie Belle asks if she’s ever hypnotized anybody, Scootaloo chuckles and recalls the time she hypnotized Silver Spoon (who is also in her class) into acting like a chicken in front of the whole class for a presentation. The tomboy also adds that she could hypnotize Sweetie Belle if she wants to, but the lavender-haired girl scoffs at this notion and claims that she is too smart to be hypnotized. Scootaloo doesn’t believe this and (upon remembering that she has her hypnotist’s pocket watch in her backpack) insists that her friend can be hypnotized and vows to prove it. After getting her pocket watch from her bag, Scootaloo stands up, walks over to her still-kneeling friend (who has turned around to face her), lowers the watch down to her face, starts swinging it in front of her eyes, and tells her friend to just relax. Sweetie remains doubtful that the induction will work, but decides to play along for her friend’s amusement and begins to follow the watch with her eyes. As Scootaloo starts to guide Sweetie Belle into a deep hypnotic slumber, Sweetie remains skeptical about being hypnotized despite the induction actually working, as evidenced by her drooping eyelids and the feeling of intense relaxation spreading throughout her body. Eventually, she becomes so tired that she has trouble mustering the strength to speak, not helped by the fog of hypnosis that is clouding her mind. Finally, Sweetie Belle submits to the induction and drops into a hypnotic sleep. Her eyes blink shut has her arms fall limp at her sides, causing her to lose her grip on the can of orange paint she is holding in her left hand, its contents spilling out onto the floor in front of her.
Upon seeing that her friend has been successfully hypnotized, Scootaloo becomes ecstatic and begins bragging about how she is a ‘master hypnotist’. Once she is finished, the purple-haired tomboy turns back to her hypnotized friend and tells her to stand up. Without opening her eyes, Sweetie obediently rises to her feet and stands to attention in front of her friend. After taking a minute to think, Scootaloo tells Sweetie Belle to take off her boots. Again, remaining in a deep sleep, Sweetie obeys the command and pulls off her boots, exposing the lavender-colored socks she is wearing underneath. Upon discarding the boots on the floor, one of them accidentally lands in the puddle of spilled paint, but Scootaloo is sure that it can be washed out later. After taking another moment to think, Scootaloo comes up with a funny thing to make Sweetie Belle do. Moving her sleeping friend to a more open area of the gym, Scootaloo tells her to start dancing like a ballerina. After giving Scootaloo a curtsy, the hypnotized Sweetie Belle stands on her tiptoes and starts doing a rather graceful ballet routine, her socks serving as ballet slippers. Scootaloo is thoroughly impressed by her friend’s dancing (even more impressed that she’s doing it in her sleep), but isn’t too surprised as she recalls that Sweetie Belle took ballet lessons during middle school. Taking out her phone to record the sleeping girl’s performance, Scootaloo begins snickering to herself as she imagines Sweetie’s reaction when she sees the footage and discovers she was actually hypnotized….
