Just like her mother, Berenice is the oldest of her generation, and holds a lot of authority because of it. She is also among the few who remember the near annihilation of their kind through the betrayal by the ghoul Mr. Wizard, and the ponies who followed him, an even that left her distrait mother Andromida as the only adult among the nest. That event heavily imprinted a scene of fear and hatred of ponies, something that would only grow more intense as she matured into an adult Sparkle-Lurker, turning her into a warmonger that believes that ponies are too dangerous to let live.

Berenice’s most striking feature is her striking blue eyes, it unnatural to her generation, they became blue after fighting with a pony that she had tracked down to kill, said pony having had turned into a Dulahan, and cursed her with death magic. Now Bernice can see the spirits of the dead, something she cant turn off even when she closes her eyes or goes to sleep. Though only driving her more insane, it has also made her a spiritual leader among her follower, her sight able to se what others cannot, making them even more fanatically devoted to her.

When her and her followers separated from the nest, Berenice quickly located several choice nesting grounds, and began focusing on raising an army to one day throw at pony kind, and wipe their evil from the world.

Though they shun pony technology, her nest is fr fro helpless, as many of the lurkers have become near masters at crafting the chitin of the more feral mirelurks into weapons and armor, as well as taming some of the beasts to be used as attack animals, or mounts. An armored Sparkle-Lurker raider can easily close the distance to a group of ponies, wile under gunfire, and unleash heavy strikes with their polearm weapons. Pegasus, griffin, and the Steel Rangers still prove to be a strong counter to the Lurkers, but much of the rest of the land locked creatures have found themselves a new and very dangers enemy.
