During a routine patrol in the Crystal Empire a rather enthusiastic guard came across something she couldn’t have expected: a dragon, a gem eating dragon, was staring down the Empires Crystal Heart like a plate of hay. Jumping into action the guard managed to subdue the dragon, restraining its arms, legs, and wings and fastening its snout closed to prevent it from spewing flames at her. Proud of herself for her accomplishment the guard hauled her detainee to the castle to let the Princess know about the tragedy they had so narrowly avoided. After suspending the prisoner from a ceiling hook so she could be safely examined, the guard explained to Princess Cadence the situation at hand… only for the Princess to inform her that the ‘dangerous dragon’ was in fact a visiting dignitary and that she had would never have armed the crystal heart and that the dragoness should be released and apologized to, a duty the guard went to with great zeal.

I got the idea for this pic from trying to picture what would happen if a visiting dragon got a little too close to the Crystal Heart with a hungry look in their eye. It was also a good excuse for me to reveal not only Cadance and the guard’s colors but also try tweaking the guards outfit to be more, well guard-like. I mainly changed the ends of them to make the leg stockings look more like greaves or the armored horse shoes they use in the show (plus a little insignia on the lapel). Plus, I don’t think I’ve drawn any dragoness’ tied up before, so bonus there.

I’m actually really happy with how this pic came out, thought I think that a few of the proportions/sizes are off and the background isn’t the most interesting, but I still think it works.
