“What is this place then, and why would there be so many lost foals here?

“I’m not sure. This small island is very lonely out in this area. perhaps the lost find this place when you grow weary.”

“If you found me with the beacon before, couldn’t I just light it again?”

The mare looks down to her hooves, “It was only by chance that I saw your beacon. I have many places to search and I may never come back in my travels.”

“But… I’m not sure… I may want to come to your carnival but I need some time to think. Could You maybe follow me in the lighthouse and spend some time there.”

“Certainly, I wanted to head inside anyway since you described more lost children inside.”

“But, if they’re lost children like me why couldn’t I talk to them? and why do they look like shadows?”

“Child, they see you the same way you see them. This place is like the rest of the world, where only one like me can see you as you are. I wish to bring you to my carnival where you can be safe and you can see the other children as they are as well. To explain it is hard and a bit. painful. I don’t wish to upset you.”

“Well… I’m going to still think about it.”

The filly accompanies the mare into the lighthouse where the mare speaks to the shadow ponies who seem to respond to her words. The filly cannot hear what the shadow ponies are saying, but she can hear the mare answering many of the same questions she asked. eventually after searching most of the lighthouse the group of shadow ponies led by the mare reaches the front door.

The mare approaches the pony again. “I’m sorry that I cannot give your decision more time but unfortunately now it the time to choose. Will you come with me and enjoy my carnival?” The shadow ponies all seem to have their eyes on The filly as the mare addresses the young foal directly.
