Description:

Yes, I know about my art skills. But I have good reason for uploading this!

So a long time ago (about two years ago on >>587381 to be precise) user “when she felt her wings unfold” here on the booru gave us a doi link to the open-access science journal PLoS One. The doi (Digital Object Identifier) system makes short, permanent links to scientific articles. High-profile journals like PLoS One get their own prefix to a number: PLoS One’s is pone. That is, a link to an article in PLoS One looks like this: doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0005726 . Enter this at doi.org and it will take you to an article on horse lather.

So of course I had to ponify journal.pone. It shouldn’t have taken me so long, but, well, priorities. As we’re coming up on the millionth image, I decided I wanted to get it in under the wire, and here he is.

Journal is a unicorn with a white coat and RGB mane, like what one would get breaking white light with a prism. His special talent is for science communication, making complex ideas easy to understand, which he found giving presentations in school. (His cutie mark appeared during a presentation on atoms.) He runs a pop-science magazine with a healthy circulation (Scientific Equestrian, maybe?) and loves giving talks on Equestrian science, both basic talks for curious layponies and interesting recent research for professional audiences.

I guess you could call Journal both a ponification and oc. I have no OC hate. He isn’t Donut Steel though. In fact, in the spirit of PLoS One, I am happy if people would like to use Journal whenever they’d like to post a link to something cool and science-oriented. (Crediting this original would be nice.) If someone with far more art talent than me would like to make a nice-looking exploitable out of the character, go for it.
