So this is pretty much how I imagined this relationship coming to be. It’s kind of convoluted. But anyway…little miss Ditzy Doo lives a happy life in Ponyville. But little does anyone know, she has dreams and aspirations to become an actress. Yep. An actress, on Bridleway. The biggest spot light in Equestria. Or the second biggest, if you take into account those who get to perform in the royal castle in Canterlot.
Anyway, when Ditzy was a filly, her mother took her to see practically every show and she’s been enthralled ever since. Too bad none of her friends really think she has what it takes. It was a disappointment to her, but she knew they meant well. Her problems with vision and coordination can make certain tasks too dangerous. And some ponies honestly feel nervous around her when ever she is in close vicinity to heavy equipment, like stage rigging for example. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t act! But how could she prove that to everyone?
So Ditzy worked tirelessly, part time as a mover, weather, and mail pony, all with their own…interesting results, until she had earned enough money to go to Manehattan’s Acting School for Promising Ponies.
And throughout all this, even before her voluntary bit roles in Ponyville’s little community stage plays. Before the time when she almost squashed Sweetie Belle by accidentally backing into a set piece, she had a pen pal. Because of pen names, she did not know who he or she was, only that they live in Cloudsdale. Their correspondence started simple but over the span of one and a half years, roughly the time it took for her to make it to the acting school, their letters have become more and more personal and Ditzy starts to feel really close to this pony without having actually met them. Yet reading every new letter fills her with butterflies.
Not long after, Ditzy lands her first role. It’s nothing big but she finally made it! With hard work and dedication, things can only get better! Penpal is totally excited and says they want to see her on her big night, nervously Ditzy agrees, wanting to meet her penpal for the first time in almost two years. A pair of friendship necklaces they made each other a while back will be how they recognize each other in the crowds.
So it’s the shock of her life when she finally sees him. Tall and dashing. Ditzy can’t believe it when she sees her hoof made friendship necklace around the neck of one of the biggest sports stars in all of Equestria. One of the leading cloudball players with fame to easily rival that of any Wonderbolt, and twice the wealth to boot. A stallion, mares everywhere blush and whisper about on a daily basis in markets, hair salons, bistros, and bedrooms.
At this point her emotions have hay-wired and tentatively she backs away before he can see her. She doesn’t know how to approach Hoops, the rising legend, the sports star, the bratty privileged colt who used to pick on her back in flight camp and called her the wall-eyed flying health risk. What is she going to do now?
