You wake up today to a strange envelope placed at your doorstep.

There is no return address nor do you find any postage stamps.

What peaks your interest is that the envelope is addressed to you by name.

you shrug it off as simply Derpy doing a favor for somepony else.

You open the envelope and things only get stranger.

Inside is a letter, indeed addressing to you, but from somepony you don’t know. A pony from the crystal empire.

The letter reads as follows:

how’s it going, friend!

things are going great here… the crystal empire is so great this time of year.

princess cadence is a glorious ruler. and things have never been better.

i heard that one of princess celestia’s students became an alicorn recently.

twilight sparkle is her name right? she was the one who saved the crystal empire too, right?

that’s really something, huh?

i wouldn’t mind if she read this particular letter here.

in fact, you should show it to her.

just for laughs. you should. show it to her as soon as possible. seriously.

things are great here. we just had another crystal fair, and everypony is in high spirits.

i’ve never seen so much laughter and happiness congregated in one place before.

i hope you get this letter soon and that princess sparkle gets it soon, too! we’re all dying.to hear from you again!

oh! and don’t mind the bottom of the page! one of the little fillies got into my paper stash and this was the most salvageable piece of paper i have at the moment. seriously. don’t mind it. and if this letter does reach princess sparkle, it is imparative that she does. not. read. that gibberish.

This strikes you as extremely strange. the pony who wrote this clearly had no sense of either grammar or decency. His capitalization was full of errors. He didn’t even capitalize Princess Celestia’s name, for pony’s sake! The letter itself is hastily scrawled. And what of that garbage at the very bottom of the note? He even went as far as to request this letter be delivered to Princess Twilight, even after addressing it to you!

Even the first line you find annoying. Who writes like that? strange capitalization with numbers mixed in?

Surely this is a prank. But at the back of your mind, you feel something is off.

What now? you think to yourself.
