Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, and Fluttershy meet some students from a high school in Santa Monica, Rainbow Dash (g4), Applejack (g4) and Pinkie Pie (g3) as well as their favorite teacher Vicky and her young sister Tootie, after saving her from being hurt from someone. Later that day, the mares watched the newcomers win a bowling tournament against a trio of undefeated but nasty champions from Santa Cruz, who caused Tootie to almost get hurt from them.

Nebula was interested in recruiting the Santa Monica champions because of their evil qualities, but when she learned that the other side won the tournament, she was furious. Sailor Tin Nyanko offered to search the planet for people with the same qualities as the Santa Cruz trio, but Nebula had no choice but to recruit the Santa Monica mares instead. She sent Sailor Tin Nyanko to kidnap the three mares and Vicky, while a platoon of Phages, despite being defeated, kept Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, and Fluttershy from rescuing their new friends.

While Tom and Sylvester looked after Tootie, the mares had to balance rescuing the four civilians with saving Los Angeles from two monsters. They managed to defeat the monsters and save the hostages at the very last second, but as Fluttershy was wrestling with Nebula's evil snake, she was severely weakened. Twilight Sparkle threw the snake off of Fluttershy while Rarity blasted it. The two sailor scouts had to take Fluttershy's neck collar off for her to avoid suffocating. However, unbeknownst to them, G4 Rainbow Dash and Applejack, and G3 Pinkie Pie were watching on from the entrance to the cave, and inadvertently learned the identities of the Sailor Rangers.

While Vicky is reunited with her sister Tootie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie are taken to the Moon Castle. Princess Serenity decides to trust the three with the secret of the sailor scouts' identities, due to their bravery and after having Luna run background checks on them and finding them to be of good character. Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie take a vow to never reveal what they've learned, and they reunite with their new friends.
