It should go without saying that most workers in the cosmetic field do their very best to maintain a comfortable environment by being gentle and caring toward their clients, as well as encouraging them that they will look and feel their very best, even if they are unsure about trying out a new style…

But for someone like Fluttershy, who would likely not consider beauty as merely “skin deep”, or that there is more nuance to beauty than the superficial and especially the “artificial”, the whole ordeal of cosmetic treatment may come off as a bit overkill, maybe even a bit much… With close-quarters delicate care and professionalism comes a sense of sensory overload and hyperfocus that can come off as intense and unnatural (after all, it takes a bit of “all up in your business” to really get down to the nitty-gritties of assisted makeover meticulosity).

I have purposefully overexaggerated (and maybe even slightly stereotyped) these makeup artists, to really drive home the feeling of uncertainty that comes with being at the mercy of handlers, and their invasive beauty methods… because it can be amusing to exaggerate arbitrary everyday situations. (Plus, I figured it'd make for a fun little exchange).

Perhaps I’ll draw legit EqG versions of Roxy, Vidala Swoon and Powder Rouge in earnest at some point, but for now, enjoy their disembodied offscreen hands!
