Pinkie Pie hugged Limestone Pie. “How’s my super duper sister doing?” Limestone scowled. Pinkie, ever smiling, kissed her cheek and let go to grab and shake her middle. “How’s my newest niece or nephew doing in there? I brought a rock on a string so we can tell which you are today! Limestone, do you remember what Granny Pie told us about telling whether a mare was having a filly or colt?” Pinkie prepared to hop, dance, and sing around the room.
“I remember.” Limestone merely frowned. “Swallow a rock and it’ll tell the rock on a string whether it’s a filly or a colt.”
She begrudgingly took the rock Pinkie offered, swallowed it, and Pinkie let the string swing back-and-forth above. Limestone’s belly rocked with a kick, and she grunted.
“You’re having a colt! Isn’t that amazing!?” Limestone leaned over and coughed a cloud of dust into her face.
