Cosplay Challenge Day 25: The cosplay you put the most effort into.
I'm going to have to go with Lolita Rainbow Dash. I know it was an altered Bodyline dress, but I spent so long hand coloring the lace individually with permanent markers. It doesn't seem like a lot when you're looking at the photo, but if you try to imagine coloring all that, it's pretty daunting. Plus I had to come up with my own wing mechanic, as I wasn't willing to do little foam wings with a metal base. These wings were made by slitting into the back of the dress, inserting these price holder things I obtained by working at Walmart, and adding fishing line to support the weight of the wings, which were made of poster board and fleece.
Also, the wig was solid white when I bought it. Because MLP was not the popular show it is today, finding a decent Rainbow Dash wig was impossible. So I opted to get a white wig and hand color it with permanent markers as well. It took FOREVER.
But when I was finished, the comments that I received at Otakon 2011 were worth it. Bronies had JUST started to become a real thing and my favorite comment was as I was walking through the Dealer's Room I head a guy shout "FINALLY! A GOOD RAINBOW DASH!" It felt awesome. /)3^(\
