Description:
QUEEN CARAPACE, A Scourge Reformed
In the oldest days of Equestria, the lands were ruled not by the Solaires on their own, but by them and their sister-family: the Perigees. For centuries they both lived in seeming harmony, but under the surface there was something malicious brewing, a coup. Seizing power, the Solaires drove their fellows out into the wastes around Equus, within which the fate of the Perigee bloodline was sealed, but not before the goddess Nyx took notice.
Outraged by the betrayal of her sister's creations, she saw to it that the Solaires may never live in peace again for their hubris, and so she created the Changelings... And what are Changelings without a ruler to guide them to victory? For centuries, Changeling Monarchs came and went, oft being slain in battle against their sun-kissed counterparts, and yet one persisted into the modern day and even, to an extent, won the seemingly eternal war. Queen Carapace, the Scourge of Equus and Bane of Hyperion.
Unlike those before her, Carapace was able to kill not one but two of the Solaire rulers, the honourable King Hyperion and his wife Queen Theia. She then put up a fight against their heir Helios, however she was defeated and presumed dead for another 400 years... And then, in the modern day, as Helios' reign came to an end and Jade's began, the Queen chose to rally her race and strike again, only put down again by the infernal wrath of the Dragonborn King, this time to be imprisoned under Reinholm until her execution was set for the night of the next Gala...
Okay, enough of what I'm getting paid to tell you about, you're probably wondering just how Carapace became that weird combination of Changeling, Thestral and Crystal Pony. Well, after Jade took his hoof to Carapace's jaw, he had her locked up as previously stated, however t'was a ruse; ol' boy didn't plan to execute her at all, it was a long game to either coax out the remaining Changeling loyalists that hadn't been swayed by his half-breed charms and combat prowess, or to get Carapace to reform somehow. He saw to the latter by spending his off-time with her in her cell, making conversation and bonding over their freak nature.
Fast-track to several months later and, suprisingly, he'd made a mark on her suprisingly, though she'd yet to reform. Fast-track again to the night of the Gala and she gets a package, one containing an enchanted sword. Of course, she breaks out, maybe toys with the royal guardsmen a bit, and later finds out that one of her old generals, Faelynx, was currently infiltrating the Reinholm Manor to nab her back and skedaddle. She snuck upon a scene where they were confronting Jade and the then-prince chose to spill, and when he addressed her directly it all began to click. The ruse ran deeper than she'd thought and by the time Jade gave the ultimatum of leaving forever with the small group, fending for themselves in the outer-Equestrian wastes, or reforming finally and getting their shit together, well, it was too funny to her for her to pass it up.
That night, Jade and Carapace danced to the horror of several hundred nobles, and then and there mid-dance the craggled dark-green exoskeleton broke away with a divine glow and gave way to the beautiful pony you see here before you... And then they FU-
