You would think that shutting down the clubs might make things a little better. Can’t be competitive if there’s nothing to compete over, right?

Wrong! So very very wrong! Now everyone’s cooped up in here all the time, and there’s no one to cheer for and no one to rally against. You Wondercolts and the Griffonstone Golden Eagles and the Mt. Aris Gulls and all the rest, you gave us something to unite around. Something to pit ourselves against, something to feel superior to. You gave Crystal Prep its identity. We were the winners, we were the fighters, the skilled, the supreme!

Without that… there was no ‘we’, anymore. There was no team. There was only a sea of people, ruthless and driven to prove over and over again how great we all are. Is it any surprise that it all turned inward?
