DESCRIPTION: Human/Equestrian Anatomical Assessment Log 21

"Breakthrough: It has come to my attention that the area of the human body, located between the hypochondriac region, otherwise known as the “ribcage”, and the hypogastric or suprapubic region, otherwise known as the “pelvis”, is in fact the lumbar region, and interestingly, labeled and understood as the human "flank" area.

What was previously hypothesized as located somewhere in the iliac region, or "hip" area, in Log 19, my current case study subject; the "cutie mark", would actually be located in said newly established "lumbar" region based on my latest findings.

My subsequent studies of alias "equus caballus", commonly known as the "horse" in this realm, revealed a striking discovery that, as an overt contradiction to the quadrupedal denizens of Equestria, the "flank" rests squarely at the relative position of the human "flank". This has led me to conclude that an Equestrian denizen’s cutie mark is actually located in the "hindquarters" region, relative to this realm’s understanding of the "equus caballus" species. And that, most likely, the relative position of “the cutie mark” on a human, to the extent that "Equestrians" and "equus caballus" DO share anatomical properties and physical anomalies that correspond with each other across realms, would lie approximately in the "iliac" or "hip" region.

Furthermore, to the extent of potentially erroneous naming convention on Equestria's part (Celestia forgive me), I surmise the cutie mark could also be located in the "flank" region of a human, which lies between the "pelvic" & "hypochondriac" regions, and would occupy opposite ends of the "umbilical" region.

Final Statements: My current hypothesis; the approximate location of a cutie mark on a human would, based on my updated findings, likely lie within the lumbar region, as it is considered the area that occupies the human “flank”, relative to "equus caballus", the horse-like denizens of this realm. Using this realm’s highly documented studies of the anatomical structure of the "equus caballus" species as a basis, which in itself mirrors that of Equestria’s denizens, Equestrian scholars may seriously need to reconsider anatomical naming convention.

My Twilight Sparkle self-study pieces have been some of my most popular posts by far. It’s a concept I enjoy exploring, so it does me some good to see them faring pretty well.

Ever since the ‘Rough Approximation’ piece, I knew there was more I could explore with the possibilities of Twilight’s findings of the true whereabouts of a human’s hypothetical “cutie mark” location. And as soon as I realized humans do in fact have an anatomical region called “the flank”, and that it wasn’t quite at the location where she’s depicted as marking herself in that aforementioned previous piece I did, that’s when I knew I wanted to do a follow-up.

Kinda does make you think about how strange the naming convention is in ‘Friendship is Magic’. Like, the ponies are roughly based on real world horses, so why not have the language reflect that? “Oh, because “blank flank” is cuter to say than “blank croup” or "black hindquarters"(?) I’m befuddled by MLP sometimes, and even more so befuddled by Equestria Girls… But therein lies the fascination! Therein lies the very inspiration for this series. I get to use Twilight’s curiosity of the human realm to explore these strange anomalies… and practice my own human anatomy skills in the process!

I usually like to give Twilight a cute pair of undies for her studies, but I figured for a video presentation, she'd wear something a bit more plain to keep things professional (wouldn't want to be too "distracting" after all...)

There's been plenty of speculation and artistic depictions, in regards to the whereabouts of a cutie mark’s hypothetical relative location on a human (in this case on the sides, on the hips or thighs in some cases, and oddly enough on the cheeks as portrayed in most official EqG merchandise), Perhaps this could inspire a future piece, where Twilight marks her skin in all possible locations... For science or course!
