Artist’s comment:

It was the start of a new school year at Ponyville High School. The halls bustled with new students running to their next class, or trying to figure where that class was. The air was filled with the chatter of fillies and colts finding out what others had done over the summer vacation.

The administration office was equally busy. Even though the staff had been coming in a few days before the resumption classes there was always some unforeseen thing that needed addressing. However as Double Spaced looked away from her computer monitor there was 3 ponies who were just sitting still doing nothing. The mare looked at CMC sitting on bench waiting to be called into the Principal's Office and shook her head and thought.

Those 3 didn't even make it a week this year before ending up here.

As the CMC cooled their hooves and waited to called for whatever punishment awaited them they could hear Mr. Chalk the school principal having a rather vocal discussion with Mr. Bunsen the school chemistry teacher.

"Okay. Bunsen the fire was quickly extinguished and nopony was seriously hurt....well except for your eyebrows, and nose hairs, and mane. Look that will all grow back in a few weeks! What I want to know is how did this happen in the first place?!"

"I don't know! That's what so confusing! I took a thorough inventory of the school's lab supplies before the start of the semester!" Mr. Bunsen exclaimed. "We had no powdered magnesium or definitely no liquid oxygen, and I'm sure they didn't bring them to class themselves! But some how that unicorn succeeded in getting her hands on some and then applied a heat source to it, and, and well look at my face! I'm a disaster!"

Out on the bench Sweetie Belle flinched at Mr. Bunsen's last comment. "Girls. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get you 2 in trouble as well. I, I, was just thinking of ways we might be able to add some flash and pizzazz to our performance at the school talent show in a couple of months!" The young mare whined.

Well it was definitely a flashy fer shur!" Applebloom said. "In fact the spots of colors r' just now goin' away from my eyes!"

Sweetie perked up and looked to her left at her friend. "Do you think they will let us have it in our performance?"

Scootaloo looked away and shook her head. "Sweetie we'll be lucky if we don't get detention until we graduate. So I'm not worried about the talent show at the moment."

"But it was an accident!" Sweetie squealed. "Oh! Mom and dad are going be furious!"

"Yeah Big sis and Big Mac ain't gonna be too happy either. " Applebloom grumbled.

Scootaloo's phone chimed. Pulling it from a front pocket of her cargo short she stared at the text grinned and snickered. The AB looked over at Scoot's and arched an eyebrow.

"What's so funny?"

The orange pegasus giggled and shook her head and grinned even more. "Nothing much. I texted Rainbow Dash right after the whole thing when I could finally see the screen. She just replied to it."

"And what did RD say?" Applebloom said while give her friend a suspicious look.

Scoots giggled. "She said. Dude! Did you get a recording of it? I so want to see that!"

The earth pony groaned. "Great role model!" Sweetie Belle made various small whimpering sounds.

This is the first drawing I started during my recent Back-to-School Picarto stream, and this is the story that popped into my head as I working on the piece.
