Hey everyone,

I'm back after a few days of absence - I had, and still have a lot to deal with going on IRL. My uploads and online presence will, therefore, be sporadic in nature for at least the next month.

Regardless, I decided to depict, and then subsequently rename, a character that I've only ever spoken about in short stories before; her name formerly being Witching Hour, but now it is Panacea. Living as she does in a quaint old cottage deep within the Fields of Forever¹, she very rarely gets visitors.

She is a powerful unicorn, a very competent potion maker, an expert in healing magical disciplines, who also greatly enjoys enchanting items for fun. The ever-studious Cea, as her few close friends know her, is another character that is effectively immortal due to long-term exposure to raw and untamed magic infusing her body- essentially shutting down the aging process, and allowing her to sustain herself by magic alone.

Why yes, this does mean that she does not actually need to eat and drink, Cea does so regardless- her little woodland home is in the single richest (non-tropical) region on the face of Equis when it comes to wild fruits, berries, nuts and vegetables. There is quite literally a "wellspring" of wild nature magic in her basement.

Working with raw wild mana, as opposed to the more refined and stabilised magicks you may be used to, is incredibly dangerous for one who is not used to it. It is an untamed, unpredictable, and inherently capricious energy that is, for all intents and purposes, impossible to master- and it can have some very interesting reactions when it interacts with normal magicks. Certain spells even require a minor sacrificial component to get them to work.

Yet that's the thing that Cea understands where nopony else does - you can not truly master nature - you can only work alongside it. Even Discord's chaos magic, as inscrutable and full of possibilities as it is, plays second fiddle to natural magic. All other magic will fade in the fullness of time and come back to natural order - like an abandoned megacity being slowly reclaimed by the wilds.

Panacea, however, remains as jolly and humble as she ever has - singing and dancing while she works on her sorceries and studies. never needing to travel far from her home to find or make what little she really needs. But if you find yourself lost in her neck of the woods, you can count on Panacea to metaphorically and, literally, cure your ills.

She's not the most social kind of mare, and she does enjoy her solitude, yet she always welcomes her friends, or those in need, into her home. For those interested in such things, she is heterosexual but not looking for a partner.

I will be revisiting this OC fairly soon, as I've got a few ideas as to what I can do with this character.

¹. The Fields of Forever are essentially the cradle of life on Equis and is the place where many species first evolved to sapience countless thousands of years ago. Located on another continent thousands of miles to the east of Equestria, it is a vast, temperate, open grassy plain that seems to extend forever in all directions, criss-crossed by rivers, and pockmarked by copses, bushes, and lone trees.

In Equestria, those who know of this ancient region speak of it respectfully, in hushed whispers and deference. Additionally, the tenets of the Harmony Cult refer to it as the location of their afterlife- a place of plenty where ponies can be free, and run eternally in any direction if they wished. Regardless of the details, the Fields of Forever are very real, and the first Equestrian exploration team has just arrived on site.
