Phoenixes were largely left unharmed by the balefire bombs during the Great War. After exposure to the massive amounts of radiation, their plumage turned green and gold and they now breathe radioactive fire. They are considered by many to be one of the most beautiful wild creatures of the Equestrian wasteland.
