The town of Ævrefreodeh was founded on a clearing where the Polvar (running south) and Ævrefre (running west) rivers met, flanked in either side by the Everfree Forest in the east and White Tail Woods in the west. There already had been a road running from Marvdašt to Istakhr in the area, and before Ævrefreodeh was settled, the western side of the road was a known highwaypony haunt, but settlement of the area and the subsequent installation of a detachment of the royal guard in the village ended that problem permanently.

Fluttershy's cottage, which used to belong to Pinkie's grandmother, was located in the north of the town, not too far from the road, on an artificial islet on the Polvar (the stream in front of the house had been excavated after the place had been built), which cut through White Tail Woods in that particular stretch - there was a natural bridge further down the river - making the place somewhat isolated, which suited Fluttershy just fine. It meant nopony could see her taking baths in the river.
