Looking a few years into Muffins' future for my TLC AU to see how Minkie recovers from her ordeal. She'll never be ok, not really, but she can improve.

She's put on some badly needed weight

her mane and fur are thicker and glossier. She won't be winning any beauty contests but it's stopped falling out in clumps.

Physical therapy, nutritious food, and regular exercise have given her some strength and stamina, but she's still very frail and benefits from mobility aids. She has a wheelchair for her bad days, she'll probably end up using it permanently as she gets older.

Her light sensitivity has diminished, but her vision is still poor so she has glasses. Derpy thinks they're cute.

Mentally she's still fucked, but she's better at blending in. She's gained a decent enough grasp of social conventions to go under the radar. She's obsessively dedicated to learning about the world and is in the process of getting a GED. Her desire for independence and her desperation for contact are constantly at odds with each other. Minkie wants to be able to stand on her own, but she's terrified of being abandoned again.

So, that's where Minkie's at several years after achieving freedom. Poor thing, she looks so fragile, so innocent. I'm sure she couldn't hurt a fly, there's no harm in getting a little closer...
