Its my interpretation of a younger Luna and Celestias kingdom within the everfree forest couple years before disaster strikes the world with Lunas fall but at this stage she's getting very bitter towards Celestia in secret as all the citizens love to compliment her wonderful light. .

i am going for a more rustic gothic medieval look for the past architecture compared to the more clean renaissance Victorian inspired design I do for Canterlot.

I always found it fascinating how they might have grown their original kingdom within the Everfree makes me think that besides the castle there a ton of other hidden ruins deep in the forest of what once was a peaceful ancient Equestria.
