All their eyes fell, and all their eyes paid witness to the inevitable. For when Kong’s eyes found his foe, he didn’t hesitate like Twilight had. He roared in clear defiance to everything the so-called King of the Monsters ordained. His tyranny, his bloodlust, his madness, it would finally be brought to an end, and retribution for Kong’s people and his home would be swift and righteous.

That roar earned Godzilla’s attention, and he slowly turned with a menacing sneer on his face, showcasing every razor blade of a tooth in his maw. Facing one another, within the neon lights and emergency sirens of Shanghay laying the battlefield, Godzilla growled and slammed his tail across the city. A clear sign meant to intimidate.

Kong was unfazed, ramming the head of his axe into the ground and pounding the earth with his fists. The city trembled with their actions, and it would assuredly burn with what came next. Each intimidation display failed to frighten the other, to force them to retreat, or kneel in submission. Which meant there was one last recourse.

With eyes aflame with rage for the rival, for the fiend bearing the weapon of his enemies, Godzilla tremored the sky with his battle cry. Kong thundered the earth his own, and continued to thunder it as he charged.
As he leaped high in the air, axe above his head, and drove it down on Godzilla.

For the devastation that came of their clash, the heroes in the HEAVs looked on and could do nothing to stop it. Not until Godzilla was beaten into submission or reinforcements came, but until then they waited. Waited into the longest night of their lives.
