Note: So, here's yet another redesign of Onyx/Jade. Hopefully, I should be done this time around 😭😭😭. I did this redesign, because I now ship Spike x Gabby officially. No drama, no nothing now. I know, for those who've been following my story, this change may disappoint some of y'all. And I understand. But, at the end of the day it's my story to tweak and work on. Because of the change, the descriptions and characters changed quite a bit as well to fit the stories better. Anyway, here she is! I hope y'all like the new Onyx! 🙏🏾 (and if you don't, that's fine XD. Again, I understand cuz ngl, I kinda like the older versions design/personality/background wise as characters, but this new Onyx isn't bad either. I just gotta get readjusted to her).

《BACKGROUND & PERSONALITY》

She's still the same feisty and sassy emo Onyx with less angst and a little more spice, lol. Instead of having a reason to be emo, she just is now. Onyx was born with what some might say “rebellious” tendencies. Namely because her lenient parents, Spike and Gabby, allow her to do what she wants to do when she wants to (of course with limits, they didn't allow her to do “everything”, only until she turned 18, like changing her name to Onyx [she will fight anyone that calls her Jade], smoking or joining a not so kid friendly community such as BDSM 👀👀👀, or if she was a human, wearing suggestive outfits). She's not shy to express herself and how she's feeling truthfully. She's not a gatekeeper, nor has any filter and is heavily opinionated, so she might offend everyone she meets at least once. She means no harm though. In fact, honesty is her love language. She loves when others can be honest with themselves and not be fake and wishy-washy. She believes it's harder to read people when they have a filter, and that scares her.

Though very prim and graceful with the way she carries her small stature, don't underestimate her because she has a hard bite and a loud bark. As a pastime, she's a kick-boxer, and will pummel the he// out of you. She's not the one to test or challenge.

She's confident and an interesting friend to have around. Again, though she's extremely stark, she's only that way to sift through the people that'll tolerate her behavior. For the ones unbothered by her harshness, they stay and she tries to keep them close. For the others, she kindly tells them to “Buzz off”.

As a girl that gets her way often, she gets a smidge petty when she can't get what she wants. Sometimes she can shrug it off, but if it's something she's deeply passionate about then, she gets a little (very) defensive. This becomes a problem when it's a “person/creature” she's obsessed over. She would get jealous, aggravated and assertive towards anyone that dares stand in the way of her and the one's she's interested in. She would even go as far as to hurt them unprovoked. Unfortunately, being a dragon-griffon hybrid, her innate greed for anything she wants is immense and inevitable.

《RELATIONSHIPS》

☆ Spike and Gabby: She's glad that she has respectable and understanding parents that allowed her to express her taboo interest at an appropriate age, while also persevering her safety and innocence when she was underrage. They weren't “that” lenient now. They're the type of parents that would finally give her internet access at 13-15 and kid safey technology, like a leapfrog phone or something to still be familiar with the modern devices. This is purely why she always had an interest for arts and crafts, because as a kid, Spike and Gabby pushed her to have a multitude of hobbies and talents. With their great parenting, now she's off to become a little independent business woman. Spike even suggested the help of Rarity to guide her with creating her business.

☆ Ignatius: Her twin brother who is a bit of an absent minded bird brain and who she doesn't want to associate herself with sometimes because he can be “that” embarrassing to be around. But, regardless, she loves him despite his stupidity and too suspicious naivety. He takes more after Spike and Gabby's eccentric and innocent behaviors. But despite their differences, she gets along with him pretty well. When they were younger, they were as inseparable as twins can be. Though now they're off trying to do their own things, when they hang out, they enjoy the time they share together. They both have a sweet tooth and love to treat themselves to Sugarcube Corner with their favorite desserts (Onyx favorite sweets are angel cake and gingerbread cupcakes). She's also pretty protective of him and gets onto him and his ignorance, but Iggy finds offense in her treating him like a baby (she is 10 minutes older than him after all, lol X)).

☆Valentine: "Oh Valentine, Valentine, wherefore art thou Valentine?" (Oh boy -w-). She's an amazing childhood friend of hers and somepony she can 100% be real with. Val is Onyx's serotonin, her girlfriend to be… even though Onyx has clearly implied multiple times that she's interested in her, Val continues to be the oblivious stump that she is, lol. Nevertheless, Val thinks that Onyx is cute and a smol feathered Dragzilla (Godzilla, lol), and will always be there for her. They'll continue to repeatedly watch ancient Dragzilla movies and read Lovecraftian novels together while getting fat off of strawberries. She loves Val's darkside and kinky attraction to creatures/monsters, and finds it very alluring and convenient, given that she is already Val’s type. So, usually, Onyx likes to tease her about what she as a “monster” can do to her (and Val freaks out as the lesbi fangirl panic kicks into high gear). Btw, Val is the only one outside of her family who can call her Jade.

☆ Auntie/Mrs.Rarity: She “works” at Rarity's boutique in a small pop-in/stand inside/outside of her boutique (Rarity allows Onyx to use her infamous boutique to attract buyers to be interested in Onyx's stuff). Rarity has also assigned one of her advertisement agents, Starry Night, to help promote her small business. Besides work and such, Rarity loves treating her to a meal or a shopping trip. Onyx loves getting advice from her, as she feels like out of all the ponies/creatures she's met, she can relate to Rarity as far as style, goals and personality. They're both pretty expressive, dramatic and like-minded. Rarity often wonders how she isn't her daughter (lol 👀). Btw, Onyx has been Rarity's little niece figure since she was young, and used to tag along Rarity's gemstone expeditions all the time! That's where she primarily got her inspiration for gem collecting and shaping from.

☆ Starry Night (Moondancer's son): He's a great Canterlot friend of hers. He is a fashion writer/journalist/advertisement agent and helps Onyx advertise her gemstone business across Canterlot. Aforementioned, he found her through Rarity. Starry was willing to fulfill Mrs. Rarity's wishes and began to assist her. At first he had doubts, but was surprised. “Marvelously dazzling darling, keep it up. I'll be sure to make you a notorious diamond"!, he had said enthusiastically. Onyx was flattered that she made a friend and helpful companion in her business journey.

☆ Aurora: Onyx's favorite unrelated cousin. Of course, she mostly tags along with her and Rarity when they're off eating out and shopping. I say mostly, because you might find Aurora asleep/napping or off wandering around a forest. (If they were human/anthro) She also likes to suggest outfit styles for her that fit her aesthetic, comfort and vibe, because, well, Aurora can't see what she's wearing or what style she might be aiming for. So Rarity and Onyx always keep her in check. You can tell Onyx has an influence on her style, because Aurora's aesthetic is a whimsical goth. She loves painting her nails/hooves and doing her makeup when they're hanging out/having a sleepover. She enjoys drawing while Aurora listens to her audio books and crochets (Onyx got her into crocheting, lol).

《EXTRA》

☆ "Bedazzled Jewelry & Crafts" is what Onyx will call her store. Her slogan would go like, "Be dazzled, be jeweled!". Once she opens her little store, it'll also be a place to display her art work and do tattoos and body piercings at. Kinda like how you have Claire's as a store, then you can also get your ears pierced there on the side. You don't have to go to a separate professional body piercer shop, it's all in one place.

☆She knows some French from being around Rarity quite a lot, but only exclamations, small phrases and cuss words, lol.

☆100% an emo/alternative girl and is definitely a part of the BDSM community 👀 (she's most certainly a dom)

☆ A big ole rock nerd. And like Maud, she may secretly have a pet rock named Geo (it's a geode). Also, totally addicted to making kandi and fishtail rubber band bracelets and small crochet plushies.

☆ Going back to her relationship with Val, Onyx has been planning on giving her a necklace that she made for her. The pendant is made out of a pretty emerald Val found on a cave trip she had with Onyx and Rarity. She's simply waiting for the perfect opportunity to give it to her. Perhaps when they officially become girlfriends, or as an engagement.

☆ Dove...Dove…Dove…Yeah, Onyx doesn't like her, and never will. (Kinda wants to roast her for dinner). Dove is the epitome of the type of people she despites. The two-faced, passive aggressive, manipulators. The “Oh, I’m small, perfect and innocent,” but she knows that they internally have ulterior motives. The people who aren't honest. The people she can't read…Dove…

Mentioning the nightmare version of her, Onyx didn't know that one had latched onto her, though she's familiar with what they are. Envy and greed are the two main emotions that can awaken her nightmare. So when she's feeling a bit overwhelmed by those two emotions, she feels a horrible dreadful dark presence within herself. She doesn't know what it is. Honestly, she hates this feeling and may get misty-eyed when she feels it.

In my au, I believe “Nightmares” can latch onto any creature, but of course they've mostly been seen affecting ponies, like a virus or a parasite trying to find a host (like a symbiote/Venom from Marvel). Scientists and doctors don't know what it is truly or where it originates from. However, it's suspicious that it only started to be recorded after the reign of Nightmare Moon. Anyway, they call this mysterious phenomenon “Nightmare Corruption” or Split-Nightmare Disorder; SND. They don't know if it's a parasite, a curse, a disorder, or an inherited/airborne disease. Nopony will ever fully know. But, Dove, trying to take Val away from her, will push her buttons to the point of total madness.

☆ She has a similar sounding voice to Lest from Arcane. Low and a bit husky.
