Description:
For the many years she'd spent being the sardar of Ævrefreodeh, Mahdata wasn't even born there. She had been born in Shiraz, and only moved there when her parents saw some opportunity by opening a stationary and fabric shop in the growing village.
Shortly after they became established there, she married the son of the owner of the sofa shop that neighboured their store, and after a few years, both stores had merged, giving birth to Quills and Sofas. Running the second biggest store in town made her sufficiently known in town for her to, once her mother died, run for the town council.
After only two years, she found herself being chosen as the sardar despite her relative youth (43 in a council where most members were in their fifties or older) - many members didn't have the time or energy to devote to the job, and soon enough, she was being consistently elected by default, since there were no term limits.
The Ævrefreodeh town council is composed of fourteen members, joined by the town mobad. The specific constitution of the town gives five permanent spots to the founding families (Berry, Zaranyibardasht, Spon, Pomme, Dhanmand), leaving nine up for election.
Much like other Equestrian towns, Ævrefreodeh has no direct executive elections - instead, the city council chooses one of its own to serve as its chairmare and executive every year. In Ævrefreodeh, they are chosen by lots, but the members can withdraw their names from consideration before the drawing.
So, I decided to go for Mayor Mare this time.
The torse she's holding there is usually supposed to go above her veil as a mark of office. The green sash is worn by all town council members.
