Description:
For Nightmare Night this year, Silverstream wanted a costume that really stood out and attracted some attention. Ocellus recommended to her to incorporate her height and build into her list of ideas for a costume, which got her mental gears whirling. After seeing a picture of Princess Celestia in her history class, she realized that she had a lot of similar characteristics to Equestria's sunny monarch and decided right there and then that she would emulate her for Nightmare Night that year! She only had about a month to prepare her costume, so she got straight to work.
She tried a few different things, such as strapping a fan to her back to make her mane wave in the air, but needless to say she was having difficulty accurately pulling off the look. She also had made a set of regalia out of papier-mâché and even affixed some purple gems to the right spots, but she felt like it wasn't popping the way she wanted. It was Smolder who saw her struggling and turned her on to asking for some help from Ponyville's local fashionista, Rarity, to design a more realistic representation of Princess Celestia's regalia. Being the generous soul that she is, Rarity agreed to help out Silverstream in return for Silverstream's assistance in helping her design a line of clothing for both Hippogriffia and Seaquestria, which was an exciting venture for the both of them. Modeling a few gorgeous, flowing dresses for Rarity and having a lot of fun doing it, Silverstream had a simply divine time helping out one of her professors.
Pulling some strings, Rarity was able to somehow obtain an old pair of Princess Celestia's actual horseshoes, requiring a few modifications to fit Silverstream's forelegs, but otherwise they fit nearly perfectly! The peytral and crown are both custom jobs featuring a hollow metal cast that was gold plated, but they look spot on and fit snugly. For the cutie mark, a simple tapestry was woven to drape over her back and flanks to help complete the look. The last big challenge was the mane, which required putting a very powerful enchantment on the crown (courtesy of Twilight asking a HUGE favor from Celestia herself), but through some illusory magic, it made it appear as though Silverstream had both Celestia's mane and tail. The final detail was a themed candy pail to collect tribute from the ponies she'd be visiting at the end of the month, so a simple vase was gold plated and given a handle for her to carry it.
Silverstream's costume complete and looking perfect, she stunned her friends and the residents of Ponyville come Nightmare Night! ||And not to brag too much, but she scored a metric airship load of candy ♥||
A few days late, sure, but I made a couple of Nightmare Night pics for everyone to enjoy! This is the first one I created with Silverstream playing the part of Princess Celestia, using her natural beauty and height to her advantage. I think canonically it would be extremely difficult for any pony to emulate the Princess' mane (I kinda headcanon that it's a well-guarded secret bit of magic passed from princess-to-princess, or at the very least it's something that Celestia and Luna keep close to their hearts), but hey, when you're in good with at least one Princess, I'm sure they'd be willing to enchant a piece of jewelry to give the effect for one night of the year, eh?
Still got a lot of pic ideas that I'm swimming through and many more simple sketches tucked away, so stay tuned! I got one more scarier pic to share and I'll be off for the night. Happy (belated) Nightmare Night! Until I see you again (in a few short minutes) I urge you to keep it classy, ponefriend ;)
