Description:
From June to August 2024 I have been working on this embroidery of Lyra and Bon Bon.
The six-threaded embroidering yarn I got turned out to be too thick for the cloth I was using it on, so I always used only three threads and in spite of that it turned out that I wouldnt need the cross stitch (which was my original plan), but that a single diagonal stitch was more than sufficient to fill the respective "pixel". To create soft shadings and gradients (e.g. for the sky) I moved from one color to the next brighter or darker one by using two threads of the first and one of the second color and then one of the first and two of the second between the two color layers.
Embroidering is a lot of fun and in all honesty I got to admit that I kind of picked up on this one again (I have done embroideries before, more than a decade ago) in part to have an excuse to procrastinate on crocheting amigurumi figures (which I enjoy too, but where I am always bothered by the elaborate counting of loops).
In any case there are at this time two more embroidering projects in progress so there are likely to be more of them (though they take a long time to complete).
