Description:

lore of the party.
long read.

Social Civic Progress is an ideology based on the division of male and female genders in the social, work, military, and political spheres. It was discussed in the past by French philosophers during the French Revolution, but most of its writers died during the revolution. The idea was to further separate society between women and men in order to get better results from both working separately, but it was not accepted by most philosophers of the time and was not fully implemented, only in certain sectors of society. Most thought it was foolish and without any connection to reality, as proven. In the family sector, it was impossible to separate families between male and female as there was already a kind of family hierarchy. In work, nothing changed as men worked alone while women had domestic jobs or worked in hospitals as nurses. This idea remained in the dark for a long time, but in more modern times, some radical feminists decided to bring it to light. The one who studied and reformulated this idea the most was Wanda Flores, a feminist from the most radical part who wanted changes. Daughter of an Austrian carpenter and a Brazilian woman, born on July 4, 1974, in Austria.

Wanda joined an Austrian feminist movement called "der frau kämpf", translating to "the women's fight", founded in 1968 by the German Martha Bertan. The movement protested and preached against sexism and misogyny. They often suffered police abuse during protests for supposedly disturbing public peace, being sprayed in the face, gassed, and beaten with batons. They were peaceful protesters but with the level of violence they received, they gradually became more aggressive. With the arrival of Wanda Flores in 1994, she initially only handed out pamphlets and participated in protests, but over time, making friends with the leaders, she began to be able to speak at the meetings they held. There she exposed her ideas and how feminism should be. The movement was increasingly leaning towards radicalism, until it divided. Between the supporters of Wanda Flores and the more moderate feminists, they supported the rival, Mrs. Hannah, who wanted to fight in a positive but strong way. On May 13, 1995, Wanda's supporters grew more and more while Hannah's stagnated, the way Wanda showed her revolt and her promises were more attractive than being more rational. Wanda's group became a party, calling itself "Partei der Frauenbefreiungsbewegung" (Party of the Women's Liberation Movement) what they themselves called "libertarian feminists" and Hannah's group adopted the insult "wandists" because they followed everything Wanda said. Thus becoming a common nickname among opponents of Wandism. Feminists from other parties and movements suffered threats and even violence from the Wandists.

The official flag of the Wandist party, created on March 10, 1997, by artist Emma Wagner, was commissioned by Wanda down to the smallest details. The flag features a red cross on a white background, symbolizing the bloodshed of women martyrs in the fight for freedom and referencing the colors of Austria. In the center, there is an eagle, known as “Adler des weiblichen Königreichs” or “The Eagle of the Female Kingdom”. This eagle represents the strength of women and is reminiscent of the Reichsadler, the Nazi eagle. The eagle holds a pink female gender symbol in its claws.

The flag appears to be an important symbol of Wanda Flores’ feminist party, known as Wandism. The red cross may represent the sacrifice and struggle of women for the right to freedom and equality. The eagle, on the other hand, may symbolize the strength and power of women. The fact that the eagle is holding a female gender symbol suggests that the party values and celebrates female identity and strength.

However, it is important to note that the eagle is reminiscent of the Reichsadler, the Nazi eagle. This suggests that Wandism may have been influenced by Nazism, at least in terms of symbolism and aesthetics. Wanda’s choice to use an eagle as a symbol can be seen as an attempt to redefine and recontextualize a symbol associated with power and authority in a feminist context.
