Bio:
Sometime after a rather unexpected marriage between the princess of the dragons and leader of the changelings, Prince Cress was born. Nobody really saw any of this coming except for Spike, who was absolutely thrilled that he was the one who introduced the two in the first place. Cress was certainly a unique baby, the first dragon-changeling hybrid ever to even be conceptualized, and while the changeling community adored him from the moment he was born, the dragons were a bit more...skeptical. His existence was a good image for the changelings and their push for acceptance in the world, but as for the dragons, he was an impurity in their bloodline.
Cress was taken back and forth between the dragon lands and changeling hive a lot as a baby. Although Thorax and Ember eventually found their own place to live, they made frequent trips to their respective lands to visit friends and family. Cress was always excited to see the changelings (especially uncle Pharynx) who showered him with love, but the dragons were a different story. They were loud, overbearing and intimidating. And even if they never said it out loud (probably in fear of the wrath of Ember) Cress knew they didn't see him as one of them.
Cress wasn't a very good flier by changeling or dragon standards. His bug-like wings were able to lift him only a few feet above the ground before he'd fall back down. In addition to that, his light body weight often allowed him to be pushed away with any stray gust of wind, which developed into a full-blown flying anxiety. Ember forced him to practice despite this, and almost succeeded in convincing him that his fear was stupid until one dark, rainy morning when a powerful wind blew him higher than he'd ever gone before. About a mile above the ground he was hit by someone (later known as Blue Jay) and knocked unconscious, later waking up in the hospital with the pegasus by his side.
Cress is currently working on his leadership skills so that he may one day take over a kingdom of his own. It is undecided which that would be at this point, and the hassle of figuring it all out weighs heavily on his mind. He enjoys relaxing with his best friend, Blue Jay.
Relationships:
Ember and Thorax both have high hopes for their kid and strive to make him the best leader he can be. A lot of their time spent with Cress involves working with him to achieve this, which unfortunately puts a lot of pressure on him. Cress loves his parents but looks forward to when he's away from them so that he has a chance to unwind. Thorax is much easier on him than Ember, who does not take failures lightly.
In fear of disappointing his father, Cress often goes to his uncle Pharynx with his troubles. He has complete trust in Pharynx not to tell Thorax about anything they discuss, and Pharynx has yet to break that trust. Surprisingly enough Pharynx's combative nature doesn't bother Cress like the dragons' do, and he loves to hear the changeling's tales of evil Queen Chrysalis.
Spike adores Cress and is like another uncle to him. The two like to go out and do fun things such as exploring and hiking. Cress doesn't tell him as much since he's such good friends with both of his parents.
Blue Jay is Cress's best friend. Ever since the pegasus helped him heal after the crash, the two have been inseparable. Cress trusts Blue Jay more than anyone else in the world.
