Sunset wished it hadn’t come to this.

With a graceful twirl and the flap of her glowing wings, she unleashed a barrage of golden feathers that made their way to their target. The lethal projectiles zipped through the skies like missiles but ultimately were decimated by a single beam of concentrated magic coming from the opposite direction.

Realizing the beam was coming her way, Sunset conjured a shield barrier to protect herself. The barrier shuddered violently upon impact but otherwise remained intact, much to her relief.

“Come on, Sunset!” A voice cackled. “Don’t tell me that’s all you got!”

As the protective orb around her dissipated out of existence, she focuses her attention towards the source of taunt.

Not too far ahead of her, Twi—no, Midnight Sparkle floated midair with her purple dress and her raven black wings majestically spread on both of her sides. It was a rather beautiful sight to behold…had it weren’t for the evil, almost maniac-like grin plastered on her face.

“I heard you turned into a demon and nearly destroyed the school back then!” Midnight riled. “Where’d all the spunk went to, huh!?”

She furrowed her eyebrows. ‘She’s taunting you. Don’t let it get to your head.’

Sunset refocuses her attention to the scene down below.

Canterlot High was in complete chaos.

Ever since Twilight unleashed the magic and turned into that…thing, she has created nothing but carnage and destruction all around her. Half of the school has been turned into rubbles, students and civilians alike were running all around trying to find safety and to top it off, random cracks in the space rift was slowly forming around the town due to the unstably high concentration of raw magic gathering in a single location.

Amidst the chaos, she caught sight of her friends trying to rescue students trapped in the rubble and escort them to safety. With their magic forcefully taken away from them, there was little they can do in this battle.

Sunset then looks back at Midnight who right now was now laughing maniacally all by herself. The intense magic coursing through her veins is slowly eating whatever sanity she has left. Suffice to say, the time for her to surrender and stop this madness was long gone.

She needs to end this. Once in for all.

As if sensing her change in demeanor, Midnight stopped her evil laughter and snapped her head in her direction. “Oh?” She spoke out loud. “Finally getting serious now, are we?”

“It’s time to end this, Twilight.” With a wave of her hand, her golden wings began flaring brightly against the dark cloud-ridden skies and several more golden feathers materialized all around her, poised for the incoming battle. “I will stop you.”

This is going to be a gruesome fight. The hardest she will encounter yet.

And neither her or Twilight may survive out of this one.

Even so.

The sun will always rise, no matter how dark the night may be.
