Tough as it is to choose one sex to be for an indefinite period, it sounds like Trailblazer is leaning towards stallion, and much as she may try not to influence the decision we know that's what Moonflower prefers.Besides, it's not like Trailblazer tends to be very subtle about romantic thoughts, even without visible physiological cues.
As you try to draw the distinction between what you would like to have and what you would like to be, you are reminded that after all, the ring was gifted to you for a reason. It would be a shame to part with this gift, knowing that you could be — and have been — putting it to good use.
And with this decision having little to no effect beyond the confines of the bedroom, your mind is made up: You ask Twilight Sparkle to cast the spell on you, that you may become a stallion once more.
Twilight Sparkle: "If you're sure that's what you want, then I'll use the ring right away."
You nod, and present your tail to the princess, who uses her unicorn magic to levitate the ring onto it. Then, a brief flash later, she uses another spell to retrieve the ring without triggering it again.
You use Ring of Alter Sex, then give it to Twilight Sparkle. You are now a stallion!
Twilight Sparkle: "All done! And you were right, this is no mere illusion spell. Trailblazer, Moonflower, thank you for lending this ring to us. There's no telling what we might learn from studying such an ancient relic."
Dawn Break: "Are you all done over here? It looks like it's getting past this little dragon's bedtime."
Spike: "Aw, come on. I'm fine. I was just (yawn) resting my eyes for a minute."
Twilight Sparkle: "Don't worry, we'll head back to the castle soon. Before we go, was there anything else?"
While you have no more urgent matters to discuss, thinking back to yesterday's venture into Rambling Rock Ridge reminds you of the unusual diamond dog merchant you came across.
Twilight Sparkle: "A diamond dog merchant? He didn't try any funny business, did he?"
You tell the princess that while you encountered a less friendly pair deeper into the badlands some time earlier, the merchant himself set up shop on the western fringes, and sold you serviceable items in exchange for gemstones.
Twilight Sparkle: "That sounds quite unlike the diamond dogs we know. But... if they can learn to be less aggressive, then we should encourage that kind of behaviour — and I know just the pony for the job. Thanks for letting me know."
You nod, and glance over to Spike, who is draped over Dawn Break's back and ready to pass out. You grin, and wish the unicorns a good night.
Twilight Sparkle: "You too. We'll write to you as soon as we make any progress with the ring. Speaking of which... Moondancer, you wouldn't happen to be free tomorrow, would you?"
Moondancer: "T-tomorrow...?"
You wave goodbye to the unicorns as they begin to make their way to the inn. Then, you feel a pair of legs wrap around your shoulders, and nuzzles against your neck.
Moonflower: "Eeeeee‼"
You hug Moonflower back, and playfully tell her that you're starting to think she might like one version of you more than the other.
Moonflower: "Heeheehee! But you didn't become a boy jus' for me, right?"
In all honesty, you respond that as often as you have been using the ring with or without her, it potentially makes less of a difference to remain as a stallion for now.
Apple Basket: "Huh. Can't rightly argue with that."
Moonflower: "Heehee... you are pretty good at bein' one!"
The festival begins to wind down as the moon approaches the mark of a new day. Now might be your last chance to catch an activity before it is over.
