Description:
In Sweden, each December there are two "julkalendrar" (christmas calendars?) on TV and radio respectively. In each of these, a story is told in twenty four, fifteen minute episodes, starting december 1st. The story is usually somewhat christmas themed, but how much ranges from it just happens to take place during christmas to it's set in Santa's factory. (...The best one was "Dieselråttor och sjömansmöss", don't even at me.)
Anyway. I've been planning on doing something small in the vein of this, writing shorter oneshot stories about my nextgen cast and posting one-a-day for december until christmas eve. It was going to be lighthearted, exploring a bunch of small scenarios and characters with maybe a two-parter finalé for christmas. I'd already started too late with it, due to work being an emotional black hole, but it still shouldn't be any problem.
...but then I kinda got sucked into a longer storyline. See, I kept wanting to do stories taking place after certain events, but I couldn't because I hadn't reached that point yet, and not set up everything needed for the story to make any sense. So I started to make the prerequisite stories, only to realise I needed even more prerequisite stories for those stories, and uhhh... yep, I guess this is the story I'll be telling over twenty four days ; It's not inherently christmas themed, but I can switch some scenes around to take place at Hearth's Warming, so that counts, right? =P
So yes, the plan right now is to post one short story with accompanying image a day until christmas eve :) Though they'll vary a lot in length and how important they are (there'll be a few just slice-of-life ones), and probably in quality a bit due to haivng different amount of time to finish them. But as of right now, I think I'll still manage it --I have six parts completely finished, seven more in various stages of wip, and all of them planned out at least. (Otherwise, they'll at least be done before new years.) So hold your breath that nothing happens, and get ready for part one tomorrow! :]
--TWs with -very- minor spoilers:--
-The first week of stories are from Discord's POV and handle things such as a fetus growing in an egg, the possibility of said fetus not surviving, and the aftermath of Moonstone losing her horn --and he's not entirely operating on our morals. I don't have him thinking too shocking stuff or anything, just that he underreacts to otherwise upsetting stuff.
-As that implies, the story does feature (not directly, just later discussed by characters and the aftermath of) a baby being kidnapped and harmed.
-It also later has characters feeling very socially anxious and generally depressed.
-As you read, please tell me if I forgot something here :)
