According to the show bible: "Rainbow Dash was originally called "Rainbow Cyclone". She had the same rainbow colored hair, but her cutie mark was different. Her cutie mark was a rainbow cyclone (which is her name) and she had blue eyes. She is a blue pegasus pony who performs daredevil stunts in the bright blue sky and dreams of joining a flying group called the Blue Thunders (Yes, the Wonderbolts were called the Blue Thunders in the show bible)."
