*The Darkwoods*

The Darkwoods is a place of my own creation; a fairy forest shifting in and out of reality. I often think of it located by the boarder of the Crystal Empire, for no other reason really than because I want the Aurora Borealis to shine over the Darkwoods. It is a sanctuary for those who might be seen as monsters by others, and as such its inhabitants show strong prejudice against the ponies of Equestria. The enchanted forest does not welcome outsiders, and will often lead them in endless circles, with paths appearing and disappearing and any markings left behind swallowed by moss and undergrowth, until some creature finally takes pity on them and shows them the way out.

There are four beings who hold the forest in order:

Sade, the keeper of the forest, maintains the boarders and leads intruders out of the Darkwoods.

Lady Ash is very similar to a dryad. She and her sisters are linked to the lives of the trees they were born from, and they are the ones who maintain the enchantment over the forest.

Korall maintains the rivers and springs of the Darkwoods, though he keeps to himself and avoids interaction with the other creatures.

Church, the guardian of the dead, watches over the Darkwoods’ cemetery and keeps the spirits of the dead in check. He himself is, in fact, dead.
