She made them herself and is very proud of the result, not missing a chance to show off! Applejack loves wearing them around and feels extra sexy with them on, decorating her rough dirty foots during her unshod endeavors~ Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash like them too.

An idea I got in a comments discussion with Silver Bristle on Derpibooru (here: https://derpibooru.org/images/2397094). Even tho AJ dislikes sandals, she would certainly warm up to the idea of barefoot ones (cause she enjoys barefooting and practices that as often as possible!). Since she wants a practical, sturdy design like herself and something that can actually fit her huge foot size, she would just craft her own pair. Wear them out and try them in real conditions, till she’s completely satisfied with the result and their resistance to the daily wear&tear she puts them through. Good, honest work 👌
