These are two family portraits of Twilight Sparkle (and adopted brother Spike). First one is her biological family, with Twilight just about 12, and Spike 8, the second is her with her mentor/second family (Twilight 14, Spike 10). If you were goin for a third family, it’d be her friends in Ponyville.
In my human pony ‘verse, Spike is Twilight’s adopted brother, and Twilight’s family is of Korean descent. Spike’s heritage is Mexican, mostly.
