The Great Hair Ponies were advertised as having the ‘most hair ever’ and it’s true that in terms of their manes they did have a heck of a lot of hair! In some ways they look at their most amazing when still in the box, but even loose they can display quite dramatically.
These manes were of three colours – Highlights’ being orange,yellow and beige, Ringlets’ being dark pink, light pink and white – but strangely their tails were very short and only of one colour. The hair was also crimped and as a symbol each pony had coloured squiggles across her back. Each of them came with a bow hairtie with attached ribbons, and a small bow hairclip, plus a shooting star comb. This was quite an array of accessories for 1994, when most ponies came with an accessory OR a comb, as opposed to both.
Ringlets had the honour of being the ‘hostess’ of the 1994 My Little Pony insert, stating ‘“What a great collection of my friends…everyone of us needs your love.” She is the only pony on the insert to be named directly, and you can see more of this by visiting her page.
