Sunset Shimmer had been many things. A supervillain, a hero, a member of the school band, and even a janitor. (We don’t talk about that one.) Now she was playing babysitter for a magical trinket that Twilight Sparkle had found.

“It’s not that it’s dangerous, it’s just that I’m kind of hoping that the nature of your world we all keep its powers from activating.”

’Gee thanks Twi.’ Sunset thought as she stared down the artifacts Guardian. At first glance The Reptilian Beast would just appear scary, until one realized that it also knew kung fu. Not to mention the fact that every time it was bested, it would come back a week later.

Sunset had taken the artifact a month ago, making this the fourth fight she had with the guardian. Accepting the Guardian’s attack as part of her weekly routine, had given her the motivation to learn some martial arts of her own.

Upon spotting the Guardian hiding in the school gym. Sunset bowed as if the snarling mass of scales was her sensei. The reptilian sneered, at the gesture as if it was mocking it, which it partly was. The creature then lunged forward, vaulting off the stage at the end of the gym, barreling down at the girl, a clawed fist aimed between her eyes. Sunset smiled confidently, her expression conveying an unspoken question.

’did you really just leave an opening like that?’

Before the guardian could even register it’s mistake. Sunset lunged forward, and wrapped her fingers around the Guardian’s scaly forearms, before quickly rolling onto her back, and placing a foot against the reptilians underbelly, launching an over her head with a kick.

The Reptilian Warrior rolled with the momentum, arriving on its feet to see Sunset doing the same. The same girl who had run in terror, when they had first met, now posed an interesting challenge. Facing her, the guardian roared its defiance.

Sunset snarled a challenge of her own in response.

“Bring it on!”
