It’s finally done. I’ve recreated the three main walkcycles used in the show (Walk, Trot, Run). I’ve been working on this one since August and it’s been tough. Part of why it took so long could have just been from lack of motivation and being busy with other stuff, but this one definitely seemed tricky. When I started I thought because it was only 8 frames it was going to take less time. But because I used the same philosophy as I did with the Trotcycle, where it should look nice and smooth when slowed down or played at a higher frame, the only 8 frames of room for an animation with a lot of movement probably didn’t make things any easier. A lot of time was spent messing with the graph editor, and while I’m sure there’s still improvements that could be made I really wanted to get this project over with.

So what’s next then? While this means I now have what I need to make some animations I have in mind, I actually want to make one more cyclic animation; Pinkie Pie’s Pronking animation. When that’s done I have an idea for an animation that will use all of the cycles, which is partly why I only used the barebones to showcase this animation.

While making this animation I made a bunch of little improvements to my models, like reworking most of the materials in subtle ways, and rewriting the script making it so one script can control all the models, something I’ve wanted really badly.
