Day two of October’s Gore Challenge: Decapitation.

Okay, might used more time on this than I should have and most of that time was spent on adding shading with my pencil.

Melusine the unicorn, duking it out with a hydra (yes, she’s gonna cauterize the cut before new heads pop up from it). Living by the Everfree Forest to keep other ponies from poking around your lair is all good and dandy, but does make parents worry a lot upon realizing their foal just went missing. Their first instincts being to go rampage through Everfree to terrorize the local monsters just in case they had anything to do with their little colt’s disappearance. Later revealed he simply went venturing at local village and ended up on a train to Canterlot. Shenanigans followed until parents and foal was once again reunited. Only ending with a few traumatized monsters knowing their place in the Everfree. And a Hydra with a few less heads than before.

This one shows more details than yesterday’s, and I admit right away I looked up the hydra battle scene from Disney’s Hercules to figure out how to draw those details.

I really like how it all turned out, even if kept simple. Melusine’s dramatic pose, the dynamic and all. So I hope you too like what I ended up with.
