“I think I may go speak with your father. What sort of person is he?” Mulberry asks. “Oh, and what’s his name?”
“His name is Gamble Goldenclaw, and he’s very nice and smart and caring!” River Breeze says, clapping her hooves happily. “Everyone who meets him loves papa!”
Mulberry thanks the filly and wishes her goodbye, then walks back towards the main hall. She looks around briefly to make sure there is no one around and then ducks behind the counter and looks for any information.
Unfortunately the only thing here are brochures for the various places in the city. They speak of Hard Tack’s Store. The smithy, the Hotel Cormorant, and Mournthread beach that supplies them with the fisheries that give them jobs. She stops to read one about the history of the town itself.
Mournthread was initially a fishing village run by an old tyrant that supplied food for themselves and some neighboring towns. Castle Birdsong, which has it’s own sordid history, was eventually converted to a school of magic after his untimely death and renamed “Birdsong College”. The college itself having been closed down because of some sort of scandal.
The brochures go on to make Birdsong College sound like a very unnerving place to visit, promising a 75 minute tours of the college’s “spooky” premises for a “low price”. There are even options to spend the night in the “haunted” castle.
Mulberry stops searching the counter and makes her way to the back hallway where River Breeze said her father was. There are four doors here, as well as one at the very end that appears to be a unisex bathroom.
The only noises are the ones coming from the room near the toilet. It sounds like flapping feathers, and the scratching of a quill.
