Background/Personality
Valentina was the product of rushed love. Rarity was never expecting to develop such a close bond with one of the most prestigious unicorns of all Equestria, and neither was Fleur De Lis. They got along quickly- maybe too quickly, and were married within a few months. They were undoubtedly in love…
But Fleur was having second thoughts. It wasn’t that she didn’t love Rarity, but the younger unicorn didn’t make it so easy. Rarity always acted unstable, and it was around that time that she’d had an unspoken feud with her former best friend Twilight. Rarity was very insecure of herself, and it eventually pushed Fleur away.
Not before they’d tried to have children, though. Through much, much convincing, Rarity encouraged the Fleur to undergo the gender-changing spell so they could have children. The spell only lasted for one night, but it was enough.
When Rarity was 2 months pregnant, Fleur left. The divorce was painful and time consuming, but she got through it. The two of them aren’t really on speaking terms. And Fleur doesn’t even know she has a daughter with Rarity.
Shortly after, Rarity fell into another quick marriage with Donut Joe. This one was more successful, she hoped… Rarity was in for a long road of cheating and backstabbing. She never wanted it to hurt her children, but if they were to ever find out… her reputation would be ruined.
Val led her whole life believing she was the daughter of Rarity and Donut Joe. Sure, she may look more like her mom, but she also looks kinda like Auntie Sweetie Belle! She was never too suspicious. Maybe it’s lucky that Fleur and Rarity both have white coats.
She’s rather out there, maybe too out there for Rarity’s taste. She always held an interest in swords and violent video games. Momma Rar wasn’t too proud, so she forced encouraged Val to try hairdressing. She’s really good at it, which sucks for her. She’d rather be designing cool, futuristic video games for the pony population.
Relationships
Val and Athena (younger sister) spent every moment with each other. Athena’s special talent is knighting, much to Rarity’s surprise, so the two sisters were pretty tomboyish and shared very similar interests. They gave each other tons of scratches and bite marks. Joe’s secretly proud of his young fighters. They pretend they’re not as close as they let on, but if something happens, they don’t hesitate to be there for each other.
Val and Athena are much older than their brother Caramel (who they call Chai), and while Val does stop by to give her little bro some candies, they didn’t really grow up together. She still loves the twerp and he happens to be the most mature, manageable brother she got “stuck” with.
Val thinks her mother is way too insecure to even have been a mother. Rar did try her best, and she loves her kids. But she made many, many mistakes, and they start to pick up and leave a trail. She hated that Rarity pushed her into fashion careers and makeup-related summer camps. All she wanted to do was get mud on her fur, arrange beetles into drawings, and play her stupid video games.
Val doesn’t have anything against her dad, Donut Joe. She loves his lame jokes and random love for swimming. She also loves that he was encouraging in what she wanted to do with her life. She loves the guy a lot, actually, more than she probably realizes. It’ll be a huge punch when she finds out he’s not even related to her.
Val has absolutely no connection with Fleur De Lis, her biological mother. Sure, she knows her name- the girl’s a top model, after all, it’s hard to miss her famous pink mane. She knows nothing else about her, though, not yet…
Special
It seems to be a Rarity gene to be naturally good at anything fashion. Val despises her natural talent for hairdressing, even though she’s been rated the best in Equestrian.
Her cutie mark is a sword that’s all glitched up, which hints at her love for video games and her side job of fencing! She’s great with a sword, in real life and on screen.
Through Rarity’s feud with Twilight, Val and the rest of Rarity’s kids never got to really meet Cassiopeia, the heir to the Friendship Throne. That’s not such a bad thing to Val, since she doesn’t see how the princess could ever really be relevant in her life.
Many years after Fleur chooses to leave Rarity, she marries her lifelong friend Sir Fancy Pants. They have one child together, which means Val has another sibling she doesn’t even know about.
Decided to scrap all of my old Rarity kid ideas, and came up with some new designs! I’m writing her bio in pretty late so I might heavily edit some parts once I catch up on some sleep :3 Hope you like her!
