Title: The day Love Died

Shining Armor and Princess Cadence have very little in common. One is ruthless and cold, killing his enemies with nary a twinge of fear or guilt. The other is withdrawn and wary, hiding in corners and keeping her distance from one another. The only thing they have in common is a single day neither will ever forget, because it haunts them.

The day the Crystal Empire first struck Canterlot, chaos ensued. Princess Celestia had to be evacuated while Shining  tried to secure the castle. It was on this day that the ever valiant Shining Armor learned that his beloved wife of a year was a changeling. Not just any changeling, the queen, using him to feed herself and her minions. Weakened from his previous fight with the intruders, Shining was no match for Chrysalis, who decided to cut her loses and kill her ‘hubby’.

As she drained Shining of all his love, she was stuck and quickly stabbed through the heart. As her body slowly pumped blood from her body, she looked up to see the deranged eyes of the real Princess Cadence. Chysalis had taken her place long ago and left her in the Canterlot Catacombs to be used as backup feed for her grunts. The queens last thought before passing was the question of who freed the little meat sack.

Boy, its been a while since I drew some AU stuff but It’s fun to do.

For those new to the party, welcome! This is my dark star AU. This AU takes place in the Crystal War timeline, in which King Sombra took over the Crystal Empire and declared war on Equestria. By his side is his apprentice, Twilight Sparkle and a bat pony by the name of Phantasm. On the Equestria side, there is Princess Celestia who rules alongside her non-reformed sister, Nightmare Moon and a emotionally dead Princess Cadence who is ‘married’ to Captain Shining Armor.

This AU focuses mostly on the next gen of this universe and how they shift the tides of the war just by going on a journey to follow a star. Ponies and non-ponies from both sides come together to chose how the war ends. Who will decide the fate of the war?

Will it be the prince of darkness? The slave? The soldier? The abomination? The outcast?
