Have some more of that RariTwi AU plotbunny! C: This time I doodled up earl!Fluttershy and jester!Pinkie Pie. Once again the sketches are messy, especially Fluttershy’s (she didn’t want to turn out right until I was nearly pulling my hair out), but like the end result of them both. A little later I think I’m going to add a typical sort of wear/outfit/armor each character would wear in this AU, but that’ll come later.

For now, let’s talk about these two in terms of the AU. (no rhyming intended xD)

So in this AU, Pinkie Pie is relatively the same, however she has denser and somewhat fluffier coat than what her canon counterpart does. She still has a little of her pudge, but her previous lifestyle as a traveling entertainer and her constant moving around has kept her in fantastic shape, and her body is somewhat toned with muscle. She’s nowhere near as muscularly defined as AJ, Twi, or Rainbow, but she has a little more definition than Shy and Rarity. I was going to actually leave her hair and tail in the same style as her canon counterpart, but then I changed my mind. Instead, her hair in this AU is longer and, to better keep it tamed she braids it in a comfortable braid. She’s also still related to Surprise, her pegasus grandmother.

Pinkie’s personally pretty much the same. Like the others, I didn’t really see a need to make a huge change to it, especially due to the occupation I gave her is pretty much the same as what she does in canon. What has changed, however, is her past. Instead of dead, Surprise is still well and alive. It’s actually Pinkie’s parents whom are either dead, or have completely abandoned her and her sisters, so their grandmother took them under her wing. The family lived a rather quaint life as peasants, but despite this Pinkie’s childhood is one filled with love. It’s when she grew to around 18 that she longed for an adventure, so she made the decision to try to be a traveling jester. So that’s exactly what she did, after bidding her family a farewell and the promise to visit as often as she can. Pinkie traveled to cities, towns, villages, anything of the sort, and made a name for herself due to her fun, upbeat, positive style of entertaining. It’s through this that Pinkie was eventually summoned to perform for Queen Rarity and a few earls of her court (including Shy).

Long story short, this is the performance that got Pinkie hired as Fluttershy’s personal jester, specifically because her style of entertainment is exactly that: meant to entertain and make the host have fun, not to criticize disguised as a playful jest. The two of them are really close and, nowadays, are almost always together. There have even been rumors that Shy’s been rejecting possible suitors because she’s having a secret relationship with Pinkie (hint: they are indeed in a relationship C:<).

Okay, so now Fluttershy. The shy pony is actually smaller than her canon counterpart, both in build and height. Her tail is a bit shorter, but her mane is far longer than her canon counterparts, to the point that she must put it up in ponytails, braids, or buns so it won’t drag on the ground constantly (more so for appearances than Shy actually minding if her mane drags or not). Her ears a bit longer, and so is her neck, if only slightly. She also wears a really subtle, gold-encrusted headband in the stead of a tiara; she doesn’t like how a tiara makes her stand out. What hasn’t changed is that she still has a body that is often compared to a deer or an alicorn (which is HUGE, given what the princess sisters are in this AU), her wings are still much longer than most and build for endurance flight, and she still has a few scars here and there from handling animals.

Again, her personality hasn’t changed much, and that’s sort of a downside given her rank. She’s still shy, painfully so, she’s still soft-spoken, she still easily intimidated… and all of this bodes ill due to her being an Earl/Jarl. Many other Earls and those of rank attempt to try to take advantage of this, but it’s from Rarity’s intervention that they never get too far. Now with Applejack and Rainbow at her beck and call as her bodyguards, no one who’s sane would dare try it. Thankfully, Rarity’s support and the newly added support from the rest of the girls is slowly helping Fluttershy out of her shell, and she’s becoming more confident in herself. But, despite her faults, Shy is actually a pretty competent Earl, and is very loved and adored by the residents of the town she holds power in. I’d think that regular citizens wouldn’t be as scary to her, even though it still makes her nervous upon the first few meetings. It’s the Royals and self-centered nobles that really get under her fur, amongst other things.

Okay, so that’s it right there, I guess. More to come as I go! Specifically, I’d like to do one for the CMC (this includes Spike, guys. o3o) and maybe some scribbles of the landscape and cities. While some locations and such would share a name with canon locations (for example, Canterlot), I really don’t want them to look like the canon locations do. This is an AU that’s probably set a little bit earlier than what the canon has established. The more I think about it, the more I’m seeing something somewhat similar to the world of Skyrim, although maybe just a little more forward with their technology (this includes the use of magic with technology). I dunno. Brainstorming is more than welcome, so suggest away.

And of course, write a little snippet/drabble of PinkieShy based off of this AU if you wish (aka you should totally do it. I’m just sayin’. o3o). Okay, no, in all seriousness, I enjoy seeing what you guys can come up with. ^.
