Sapphire Kite: “Since you’re new here, let me tell you about the Everfree Forest. Because of its chaotic nature, the forest grows a lot of valuable resources on its own. Hoofington being so close to it allows us to regularly gather those resources for ourselves.

Naturally, the return is not without risk. Many dangers inhabit the area, and it isn’t uncommon for creatures to be seen roaming near the town. That’s where the militia comes in. We are volunteers who protect our town and its residents with our lives. Since Hoofington was founded, we’ve never lost a pony to the forest, and I intend to keep it that way.

Each pony in the militia is well-trained, and follows a weekly lookout schedule, so if you see ponies wearing armour around town, they most likely are on guard duty. As for myself, I never am not on duty, and although I am rarely called to fight, I prefer to be ready for when it happens.”

You tell her that you understand, and that you didn’t mean to hold her up.

Sapphire Kite: “Not at all. It’s also my role as the mayor’s daughter to answer any question you may have about Hoofington. With that said, is there anything else you would like to know?”
