Description:
“Betty…”
”Mmm, Burgey-Boo…” Bedlam sighed blissfully, legs twitching a little as she napped on her favorite branch. Whatever she was dreaming of, she did not want to wake up.
”Betty!” She jolted awake as she felt the branch shake under her. Below her was her mother, smiling sweetly up at her. So much for that dream…
”Sorry to wake you, dear. How did you sleep?”
”Well, I WAS sleeping great until you woke me up,” Bedlam scoffed. “What do you want?”
”Your father and I are going to the annual butterfly migration,” Fluttershy smiled. “We were wondering if you’d like to come with us.”
Bedlam facepalmed. “A butterfly migration…you woke me up for a butterfly migration.”
“I know it’s not what you’re usually interested in, Betty, but I was thinking about how we haven’t spent much time together lately.” Fluttershy perked up a little. “We can visit your little pocket dimension afterwards, if you want to.”
”I can do that anytime,” Bedlam rolled her eyes. “Thanks for the offer, Mom, but I’m good. Have fun with your butterflies or whatever. If you’ll excuse me, I have better things to do. Like finishing my nap!”
”O-oh, um…okay…” Fluttershy pinned her ears back and slunk away, clearly not wanted anymore. She loved her daughter and supported her interests, but she desperately wanted to connect with her. She just didn’t know how. Bedlam clearly didn’t want to spend any time with her, anyway. Oh well, maybe another day…
