At long last, Conquest appears in the streets of New Canterlot, bringing slaughter and havoc, daring Starfleet’s Commander to show himself.

Lightning Dawn does so, sealing Conquest and himself in a defensive shield as the crowd watch, awakening his ultimate powers and hitting the foe with everything he has, enough to annihilate any living creature.

But Conquest is more than mere flesh and blood. He is hatred incarnate and Lightning’s hatred heals his wounds as quickly as they’re made. His power exhausted, Lightning can do nothing as Conquest breaks him, dismembers him, breaks off his golden horn, mocks him one last time for Starla’s capture and Lightning’s own lack of action and sympathy and finally impales him with his own horn and the hand that wields it.

Around him, Grand Ruler and his kingdom watch in horror, all they have been led to believe proven dreadfully wrong, faced with a foe that doesn’t play by their rules.

Unknown to Grand Ruler however and, hopefully, to Conquest, Lightning Dawn lives, his golden horn removed of his own wish and given to a golem who performed this suicide mission to weaken Grand Ruler’s last hold over Equestria, leaving it open for the Bearers, the Princesses and the Umbra Circle to finally liberate.

Left To Right

- In a secluded alley, Umbra Agents Goldwin (AKA Discord) and Zecora wait for the next part of their scheme to be put into action as Lightning Dawn dons his disguise and recovers from the painful task of removing his own horn and breaking Grand Ruler’s hold over him at last.

- Faced with his champion rendered powerless and brutally slain before him, Grand Ruler and Shaina stare in disbelief and horror as Starfleet is finally compromised.

- Dressed for war yet unable to deliver aid, Celestia and Luna observe, shocked at the savagery Conquest has brought to their world, the gears of their underlying ambitions turning in complex ways.

- In the midst of battle, Krysta seeks to release her fairy subjects from the curse of undeath and suddenly ascends, her body growing and morphing to reveal herself as a flutterpony, a butterfly-winged equine descended from the old ponies of the Flutter Valley. Yet before she can fully comprehend her transformation, she turns to the carnage and screams in despair as her last and oldest friend dies before her.

As the last star falls, the lights of Old Equestria shine anew, stronger and brighter than ever before.

Goldwin/Discord is kind of semi-transformed here. As he turns to the shadow his real form shows. First time drawing Zecora. She wasn’t as difficult to draw as I thought but then I only really drew her head.

Luna has a katana. Because she’s Luna.

And for Krysta, I fell to the temptation to give her a little pair of antennae, kind of like Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy. I think it kind of adds to the Flutterpony mystery about her and the expanded universe headcanon that the fans have just made so alive.

Might have gotten some proportions a little wonky. Might go over those.
