I don’t know why but I’m feeling a little lost today. I don’t like feeling lost. So I decided to give myself a little direction to not feel so lost, starting with this random post of a digital sketch I did a couple of days ago. Think of it as a sneak peek for the Limited Edition version of the headcanon book.

Giving how I’m feeling today, I figured posting up my headcanon on the Wendigo was appropriate, soooooo here ya go:

[bq]*Description:* The Wendigo is the spirit or soul of a dead sapient creature that is either wandering or is trapped within the mortal dimension and falls prey to the negative emotions that may plague it during their stay in said mortal plane. Their appearance depends on what species they were in the living, but generally they are transparent, ethereal creatures that shine with a soft blue and are emaciated in appearance. Their eyes are sunken in and shine brightly despite their depressing disposition, and along-side their cold appearance comes the power of actually bringing a terrible and freezing blizzard in their wake.

Behavior: Considering they could be the cause of deadly blizzards, the death of crops, and blinding winds, the wendigo’s behavior may seem malevolent. In actuality they are not evil creatures by nature. Despite how much their presence effects the living, they themselves are not aware of it nor can they understand it. The spirit, when in the stage of becoming a wendigo, loses much of their ability to be aware of their surroundings due them drowning in loneliness and the loss of hope. They don’t actively seek to bring harm, but they are also very drawn to areas with a dense population and have a high level of misery around them. One or two wendigos in the area are harmless, but they become a hazard when a group of at least ten clumps together. Essentially, the Wendigo is the literal embodiment of “misery loves company”, hence why they are so drawn to negative energy and form groups in a vain attempt to find some sort of companionship in their otherwise empty and lonely existence.

The Wendigo, aside from wandering around for the rest of their existence, do not do much while in the mortal plane. The most they do other than sulk and amble around aimlessly is release gentle, high-pitched cries that sound more like a faded song. This sound is often called the “Song of the Siren” as it’s often described as “eerily beautiful” to those who’s heard it. In actuality, is not singing. It is the sound of the wendigo crying out in its sorrow.

Location: The Wendigo doesn’t necessarily have a specific location that it resides, given its nomadic nature. When stationary for an extended period of time, it tends to find warm and populated areas to contrast their cold aura.

SoooooOOOoooOooo there ya go. One of the creatures featured in the Bestiary of the limited edition headcanon book. Hope you guys enjoy, and feel free to ask me questions if you have any. :3[/bq]
