Description:

Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo lead to pack over the start/finish line at Bathurst!

Thought to actual finish line is under the footbridge some distance behind the start line, the Pit Straight is one of the key sections of the track!

When the circuit was built and opened in 1938, race after race started from this very spot.

After WWII, racing resumed and grew from there, with even Grand Prix’s being held here.

In 1963, the Armstrong 500, which from 1960 had been held at Phillip Island, moved to Bathurst after the Island track began to break apart.

The first race was won by the late Harry Firth and Bob Jane in a Ford Cortina, and went on the win the few races.

The race just grew from there, gaining more sponsors, entrants and close races!

In 1973, the race grew from 500 miles to 1000 kilometres, as it remains today, and introduced the Group C Touring Cars regulations.

Many iconic moments ended on this start/finish straight, like the famous 1-2 finish for the Moffat Dealer Team in 1977.

In 1985, Group A was introduced, and in 1986, a huge pile-up stopped the race after three cars collided after Tom Walkinshaw stalled on the grid.

Since then, many many moment occurred on this stretch of road alone.
