Description:
Rarity yawned and smiled. The golden sunlight was just beginning to filter into the room between the blinds. She turned over in bed to look at the space next to her, but her fiance, Duke Blueblood, was not there. She frowned, and threw the covers off. The unicorn climbed out of the bed and threw on her morning robe. She began to walk out of the room, but paused to look in the mirror. Even though she had just woken up, her mane was as flawless as always. She gazed at her face; she knew she didn’t need makeup to look pretty, but she enjoyed putting it on. Rarity turned to face the mirror horizontally. Her belly did look slightly bigger, or so she thought. She didn’t know when she was going to tell Blueblood about her pregnancy, as it had not been planned. However, Rarity wanted to have this child, and she was hoping Blueblood would too. The mare walked out into the hallway to see Blueblood standing in front of one of the grand windows. He looked quite pensive, as if he was contemplating life’s greatest secrets. “Good morning Darling,” Rarity said quietly. Blueblood turned around, a startled look on his face. When he saw it was Rarity, he relaxed. “Hello Dear.” “What are you doing out here so early?” Rarity asked, walking towards Blueblood and nuzzling him gently on the face. “Thinking. That’s all,” Blueblood replied. “Ah,” Rarity said. Blueblood seemed quite calm, so she decided it was best to break the news to him now. “Darling… I have something to tell you.” Blueblood turned from the window to look at Rarity. “Yes?” “I… Well, I went to the doctor a few days ago… And I got some wonderful news…” Rarity began. Blueblood raised an eyebrow. “I’m… I’m pregnant.” Surprise and panic reigned across Blueblood’s face, before a smile fell upon his lips. He chuckled heartily. “How funny Rarity. You’ve always had a remarkable sense of humor.” Rarity tilted her head to the side. “I’m being serious.” Within a split second, the panic returned to the Duke’s face. “What…?” “We’re having a baby!” Rarity exclaimed with a joyful smile. “Rarity, we’re not even married yet!” Blueblood shouted. “We’re not at all prepared for this!” Rarity’s smile dropped. “I… I know… We didn’t plan this, but it happened. We’ll have to make the best of it. Don’t you want a foal?” Blueblood shook his head. “I… I… Not now! We can’t go through with this Rarity!” Anger began to burn inside Rarity’s heart. “What, so you’re just expecting me to terminate the pregnancy? Just like that?” “Yes!” Blueblood hollered, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. The rage was bubbling up inside Rarity, slowly but steadily. “Well, I’m not going to do that! I want to have this foal!” “Rarity! We’re not anywhere near ready to be parents! It would be much better off if this didn’t happen!” Blueblood said, his voice growing increasingly louder. “You just don’t want to have this foal so you don’t have to make any sacrifices,” Rarity said in a dangerous whisper. “You selfish, selfish stallion…” “Dear, that’s not at all what it is!” Blueblood lied. He didn’t want to admit it, but he knew what she was saying was true. “YES IT IS!” Rarity screamed. “I should have known better than to come back to you! I should have learned my lesson all those years ago at the Gala! You’ve always been selfish, but I guess I was too stupid to notice!” “Rarity…” “Shut UP! Now I’m starting to doubt that you ever loved me in the first place! You knew you were expected to marry, so you came after me just because I was pretty!” Rarity yelled, tears beginning to spill from her eyes. Blueblood was starting to get angry as well. He gritted his teeth. “I’m not going to be that father of this child, Rarity. Everything would be much better off, for us and this unborn child if you ended this now.” “No! I will not!” “Then FINE!” Blueblood growled. “You go right ahead and have this foal! But I absolutely refuse to take part in this!” “You selfish, inconsiderate, arrogant…” Rarity murmured, her face now stained with tears. “This is over, isn’t it Rarity?” Blueblood asked, the anger still present, but dwindling. Rarity looked up. There was no longer anger in her eyes, but a deep sadness. “The wedding has been called off. I’ll go get my things.” The unicorn mare turned around and headed dejectedly back to the bedroom. Blueblood stood, watching her leave. “She’s better off without me,” Blueblood whispered to himself. “She’s right. I am selfish.”

And that’s how Rarity and Blueblood screwed up their relationship. Rarity ends up leaving Blueblood and going back to Carousel Boutique to live my herself. She ends up having the foal, a filly whom she names Crystalline. Rarity later marries Fancy Pants, whom had just divorced Fleur de Lis. Together, they have a colt whom they name Night Shade. Blueblood actually did love Rarity, and was surprisingly upset after she left him. He learns a lesson, and later marries Trixie. He makes sure to treat her a lot better, and they even had a filly whom they name Enchanted Gem.
