Honeycrisp trotted through the streets of Canterlot, admiring the Nightmare Night decorations that were up. It was surprising for ponies who were normally rich snobs to even celebrate the holiday. Honey knew she was far too old for that hooey, but it was the one time each year she could wear her special coat without judgment. Tonight, she was a badass.

As she trotted long, she couldn’t help but hum a tune, a favorite from her adolescence. “Ah’m gonna pop som’ tags, only got 20 bits in mah pocket! Ah, ah, ah’m huntin’, lookin’ fer a come-up, this is bu-WHOA!”

”Tsk, tsk, you should be more careful when pretending to be cool,” Honey looked up to find the source of the voice: Somerset, that little rat!

”Pretending to be cool? Hooey!” Honey glared at Somerset and began brushing herself off. “You tripped me!”

”Me? Trip you? Why, Ah’d never!” Somerset mockingly planted a hoof on Honey’s head, messing up her perfectly slicked hairstyle. “Ah reckon you need to work on yer four left hooves and horrible singing before ya start acting like yer some kinda badass.”

Honey’s temper was past its limits. She was just about ready to spring to her hooves and give Somerset a well-deserved slap in the face when Discovery turned around and faced them. “What’s all that ruckus back there?”

Honey was about to tell Discovery the truth when Somerset butted in. “Big Sis tripped and fell so Ah was jus’ helpin’ her up!” They grabbed her and forcefully lifted her to her hooves to seem convincing.

“Good work Som. Ah’m glad ta see you and yer sister gettin’ along!” He turned back around, lost in conversation with his marefriend and completely oblivious to his siblings’ conflict.

”See?” Somerset flicked under Honey’s chin. “Ya gotta work on that reputation. Nopony’s gonna believe a clumsy flamingo like you!”
