The liaison between a Greater Cave Tentacula and its mate(s) can take several days, though some records have shown breeding taking place for several weeks. In either case, the Tentacula will copulate until it exhausts its strength, at which point it releases its partner(s) and returns to a semi-dormant state so it can recover.

It is not known how many offspring result from these encounters, though some estimate that partners are impregnated several times. The offspring are rarely ever sighted, as they spend their first few months with their Tentacula parent before venturing off on their own to find a permanent lair.

In the case of their partners, the neurotoxin in their systems eventually works its way back out over several weeks, and the individuals return more or less to normal, physically and behaviorally, barring a little heightened sensitivity to arousal. However, it is very likely that anyone who has mated with a Greater Cave Tentacula will return at some point in the future, sometimes to the point of only sleeping with the creatures and not other ponies. Given their scarcity in the world, however, this author doubts we need worry about these creatures snatching up our wives and daughters for the foreseeable future.
